Stephen Clarke


Stephen Clarke was appointed Chief Executive on 1 July 2013. He joined WHSmith in August 2004 as Marketing Director for High Street Retail. In 2006 he was appointed Commercial and Marketing Director and in 2008 became Managing Director for High Street Retail. Stephen joined WHSmith from Argos where he had been Head of Product Marketing since 2001. His career began at the Dixons Group where he carried out a number of store, product and marketing roles.

Chris Galway


Chris is one of the co-founders of the IIA and has worked in the Immigration Industry for over 11 years. Chris has been involved in the Migration Industry for the past 11 years in numerous roles. These have ranged from Education Assessments, through to the invention of specific Insurance Products for Visa Holders and Expats from around the world. As an innovator in the industry, Chris has been a guest speaker at many international events specialising in the subject of global education and mobilisation.

John Marcarian


John Marcarian is a chartered accountant with over 25 years experience. He is the founder of Expatland and CST Tax Advisors. At CST, he provides tax consultancy to clients in more than 50 countries, including global expatriates and businesses moving across borders. John is now resident in Singapore with CST Tax offices worldwide. Based on his knowledge of common expat issues and his own experience as a widely-travelled Aussie expat, John wrote the book ExpatlandTMin 2015. The book considers the challenges faced by the inhabitants of ‘Expatland’, a virtual country where the world’s 244 million expats live. It provides essential, practical advice designed to help them move overseas, and settle quickly.

Dr Jacqui Taylor

Jacqui is recognised as one of the 100 most powerful UK entrepreneurs and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science in recognition of her international web science work. She is an independent industry analyst for the Internet of Things and sits on a number of advisory boards to fulfil this role.
Her company has been successfully awarded all ten H.M.Government G-Cloud frameworks underpinning Secured European Cloud Services for Big Data, Smart Cities and IoT, which implement GDPR with no reliance on EU/US Privacy Shield arrangements. FlyingBinary has been recognised with an IoT international techtrailblazer award and is one of the GovTech 100 UK companies credited with transforming the UK government. She was shortlisted for Cyber Security Unsung Heroes industry award in 2018 for her European work. Her company has been recognised as

Bryan Nixon


The American School in England

Bryan Nixon is the Head of School at TASIS The American School in England. His career has spanned over 24 years in Northern Ireland, the Bahamas, Germany, and the US. He was Head of School for 10 years in Germany and the US and, since 1999, is an International Baccalaureate workshop leader. Bryan holds a B.A. Honours degree and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Ulster and an Advanced Diploma in Education from Queen’s University in Belfast.

Bruno L’ecuyer


Mr. L’ecuyer is the first chief executive of the Investment Migration Council, the worldwide association of investor immigration and citizenship-by-investment professionals. Bruno leads the Secretariat reporting to the Governing Board and is responsible for all IMC operations. A regular contributor to international publications and conferences in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, he has held positions in London, Paris and Hong Kong. Bruno was previously head at a national financial services association, acting as a bridge between government and industry. He has extensive expertise and experience in the management and expansion of a professional services association. A member of the Governing Board, Bruno acts as its Secretary.

Ms. Alexandra Kenna


C. Savva & Associates Ltd

Alexandra Kenna is a Citizenship and Residency Advisor, with C. Savva & Associates Ltd, and is based in London.

Alexandra advises HNWIs, law firms, family offices, private banks, tax and accounting firms, partners and collaborators from the UK, Former Soviet Union, Middle East and Asia on the Cyprus Investment Programme and the Cyprus Permanent Residency Programme.

Alexandra was raised in St Petersburg, Russia and was educated at St. Petersburg University. She has lived in the UK since 1992.

She frequently delivers presentations on the Cyprus Investment Programme at many international conferences, forums and events around the globe.

She is a native Russian and English speaker.

Tim Thomas



Tim qualified as a Solicitor in 1994, and immediately prior to joining EEF worked for an Employer Association in the security sector. There he was responsible for providing advice on policy and legal issues to a wide range of large, multi-national corporations, delivering specific projects in addition to membership services.  He maintained a strong presence in Brussels, working closely with the relevant employer’s European sectorial organisation and worked closely with a range of Governmental departments, notably the Home Office, successful delivering a series joint programmes with the Association’s members.

Tim is EEF’s Director of Employment and Skills policy, with responsibility for EEF’s engagement with Government and Parliament all areas of employment and migration policy in the UK and the EU. His legal expertise has positioned him as a go-to person for Members of the European Parliament, with a comprehensive network of European and UK legal, political and business contacts and detailed knowledge of the EU’s future regulatory arrangements for mobile workers. He is regularly called upon to address and advise MPs, MEPs and Peers, representing EEF with UK Ministers and a trusted source for the same. He sits on a series of exclusive, influential, governmental advisory groups dealing with the UK’s exit from the EU and its arrangements for EU workers.

The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae

His Excellency The Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM, QSO is the current and 27th New Zealand High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Prior to his appointment, Sir Jerry served as New Zealand’s 20th Governor General. Previously, he has worked at senior levels in the New Zealand public service and military.

Sir Jerry Mateparae received his military education in the UK, Australia and Singapore.  He has a Master of Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Waikato, and was recognised by that University as one of its distinguished alumni in 2009. In May 2011, Sir Jerry received an honorary doctorate from Massey University.  He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management.

He is married to Lady Janine Elizabeth Mateparae and they have five children.

Christine Sullivan

Christine is an Attorney and Director in Fragomen’s Brussels office. She leads the Private Client practice for Benelux, France and Switzerland, and also manages the Netherlands corporate immigration practice.  Christine is specialized in assisting investors and entrepreneurs to establish in Europe and assists with both residency and long-term planning.

Christine is active in Fragomen’s EU Government Strategies group and she represents Fragomen in the European Commission’s Expert Group for attracting innovative entrepreneurs to the EU. Christine is the EU lead of Fragomen’s Brexit Task Force, and also directs government strategies efforts in the Netherlands, working with decision makers to ensure that Dutch immigration policies support business and individuals moving to the Netherlands.

Christine is a US Bar admitted Attorney and she is a Member of the Brussels Bar.

Mike Scoltock

Mike is currently a Tax Partner at Kingston Smith and heads up the Kingston Smith German Desk, having previously been a director of CST Tax Advisors London Limited, advising on a broad range of inbound and outbound expat and cross border restructuring matters, covering all of personal, business, and capital taxes matters. Bringing his planning experience to bear, in particular on internationally mobile expats and associated share, options, and benefits matters and on the application of double tax treaties, Mike provides expatriate individuals and international business clients with integrated tax and structuring advice for their home market and international markets. With over 30 years’ experience in commercial tax, Mike is well-placed to advise on a wide variety of matters, being frequently consulted by other practices on technical issues.

Sunder Katwala has previously worked as a leader writer and internet editor at the Observer, as research director of the Foreign Policy Centre, a commissioning editor at Macmillan and at the Fabian Society, where he was General Secretary from 2003 to 2011.

He leads British Future’s work as a thinktank engaging people’s hopes and fears about immigration, integration and identity, seeking to build a broad consensus among the public and opinion-formers for reforms that work for everyone. Andy Lambert is Growth Director at ContentCal. He has over 10 years’ experience of creating markets, building profitable businesses and leadership roles in industry-leading SaaS organisations. Having previously launched a US Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business into the UK, which was subsequently sold to Oracle. Andy then become one of the Founding members of ContentCal, a Social Media Marketing SaaS product, responsible for the overall growth of the company. Since launching in January 2017 ContentCal has grown 100% YoY and is now used by over 14,000 companies in over 135 countries.

Alex is the Offshore Business Development Manager for Bupa Australia, based in the UK.

He has over 10 years’ experience dealing with the international private health insurance market, working for both Aviva Health & Bupa Global in the past. As of January 2017, Alex made the move to Bupa Australia where he now specialises in compliant health insurance solutions for both returning Australian nationals & expats coming to Australia to work, study or retire.

Alex has business partnerships with insurance intermediaries and migration companies worldwide, assisting with Visa compliance, tax regulations and health insurance requirements for thousands of clients.

Colette Thomson


Footstep Productions Ltd

Colette is an award-winning producer/director who has worked with the BBC, Channel 4, WDR and a whole host of European broadcasters.  She has produced TV series encouraging people to learn a language to both travel and work abroad.  These include Work Talk – French, German, Spanish; Talk Greek; Spain Inside Out; Sueños.   Her radio documentaries include No Holiday looking at people who have followed their dream of upping sticks and moving abroad.  In 1991 Colette set up Footstep Productions in 1991 to create footsteps in which other people could follow.  To tell the stories of real lives, her work has taken her to the refugee camps of the Western Sahara, the rubbish dumps of Guatemala City, the mountains of Colombia and the cities of China.

Eleri Howe



Eleri has worked for XE since the summer of 2011. Having started in client facing roles as both a consultant then a dealer she now manages business partnerships for the European office and works with key partners to help their customers achieve something meaningful.

She works with businesses across a number of sectors, supporting them to identify new ways that XE can help their customers to solve their money transfer and currency information challenges.

When not championing the world of XE and Money Transfers, she likes to spend time with her bulldog Watson, or just simply talking about him.

Lewis joined XE in 2012, as a Corporate Foreign Exchange Consultant. Lewis, builds relationships with both domestic and European businesses as they look to protect their bottom line from the impact of currency fluctuations. By developing a deep understanding of a business’s unique requirements and objectives, Lewis works alongside the client to develop effective FX risk management and international payments solutions.

Erin Johnson


Erin Johnson Gachoki is a marketing professional and London-based expat from Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Erin first arrived in the UK to take business management courses at Imperial College London in 2012, before returning to the United States to work in marketing communications and operations roles in the industrial recycling and engineering sectors. She recently returned to London in October 2018 to join her husband, and is now pursuing a career in market research and brand strategy.

Erin holds a B.A. Honours in Urban & Regional Systems Geography and Strategic Communication from The Ohio State University, as well as a Certificate in Advertising Account Planning from Miami Ad School. She is involved in the local expat community, including with the organisation FOCUS.

Rebecca is a Senior Attorney with Mona Shah & Associates Global.

As an advanced EB-5 practitioner, Rebecca has worked with numerous project developers, analyzing and crafting entrepreneur, direct-pooled, and regional center projects.  With 8+ years of experience, Rebecca is highly proficient at investor petitions, and has successfully filed complex source of funds from clients worldwide.   In addition, Rebecca handles family-based petitions and nonimmigrant employment visas, such as L and E visas.  She also has extensive EB-5 marketing experience, and has been invited to speak at conferences both domestically and overseas.  Rebecca also offers her expertise by appearing and producing podcasts and other media streams.   She a member of the President Advisory Council for Invest In the USA (IIUSA) as well as an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  Rebecca is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
